Tirzepatide is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as GLP-1 receptor agonists. It is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and weight loss. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes by regulating blood sugar levels. Tirzepatide is also FDA-approved for weight loss, indicated as an adjunct to a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of ≥30 kg/m2 (obesity) or ≥27 kg/m2 (overweight) in the presence of at least 1 weight-related comorbid condition (eg, hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, or cardiovascular disease). Tirzepatide helps to lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin secretion and inhibiting glucagon secretion. Tirzepatide reduces appetite, slows down the emptying of the stomach, and increases feelings of fullness. Tirzepatide is administered once a week by injection. Lab work that may be needed: Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), Complete Blood Count (CBC), Lipid Panel, Hemoglobin A1C (HgbA1C), Thyroid (TSH) Sample Dosing Schedule (EXAMPLE ONLY): RX #1: Inject 25 units subcutaneously weekly for 4 weeks, then increase to 50 units weekly for 2 weeks (1 x 2ml vial) RX #2: Inject 50 units subcutaneously weekly for 2 weeks, then increase to 75 units weekly for 4 weeks (2 x 2ml vials) RX #3: Inject 100 units subcutaneously weekly for 4 weeks (2 x 2ml vials) RX #4: Inject 125 units subcutaneously weekly for 4 weeks, then increase to 150 units weekly thereafter (3 x 2ml vials) RX #5: Inject 150 units subcutaneously weekly for 4 weeks (3 x 2ml vials) The $295 price includes visit with provider (Nurse Practitioner), one 2 mL vial of compounded tirzepatide, and delivery to your home (often as quickly as next day).
